French Inspired Wedding at The Peninsula Chicago

Katie’s vision for her wedding at The Peninsula Chicago

When Katie came to us, she had a very specific vision for her wedding at The Peninsula Chicago. She knew exactly what she wanted and exactly what she didn’t want. She wanted it to feel streamlined and sophisticated without any fuss or making things feel gaudy. She was speaking our language! She was drawn to french inspired details including lots of crystal and glass elements. With plenty of candle light, and white blooms, we brought this Peninsula Chicago wedding to life!

A formal bouquet for a formal wedding

Lily of the valley bouquets require over 100 stems of the small blooms and even then, they are still quite delicate and petite. That said, they are a staple of any formal wedding (see Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding). Moreover, Katie’s bouquet was a perfect fit for the vision of her wedding at the Peninsula Chicago because of the all-white blooms and streamlined, sophisticated look. Also, Lily of the Valley smells like heaven! While technically, Lily of the Valley is only “in-season” during spring, we were able to get our hands on some of the largest and most perfect stems we’ve ever seen for her bouquet!

Making an Entrance

As guests entered the wedding at the Peninsula Chicago, they first walked down a long staircase lined with a romantic floral installation comprised of Delphinium, Hydrangea, Roses, Ruscus, and Smilax. It was impressive, to say the least. The bottom of the staircase opened up into cocktails house on the Shanghai Terrace. Escort Cards were placed on a mirror table with a beautiful collection of floral arrangements in crystal vessels.

Peninsula Wedding Centerpieces

What made this wedding at the Peninsula Chicago so special was the fine details. The heavy and luxurious linens, the timeless chairs, the exquisite glassware, the stately candelabras. Each element was intentionally chosen to bring together the tailored aesthetic that Katie was after. Before we even placed a flower on the table, everything already looked stunning.

Then we layered on a beautiful array of monofloral arrangements. Tulips, Roses, Ranunculus, Spray Roses, Sweet Pea, Stock, Lily of The Valley, and Bouvardia sprinkled throughout the tables in an artful and intentional way softened the tables ever so delicately. We then placed hundreds of taper candles and crystal votives throughout.

Dressing up the Peninsula Chicago Ballroom

Along with the help of many of our favorite Chicago vendors, we completely transformed the ballroom for this wedding at the Peninsula Chicago. Elegant Event Lighting draped the entire room in a beautiful soft ivory drape. We added a second gray layer to frame the band stage. We then had Northern Decor place french country lounge groupings in each corner of the room.

Next, we built a custom boxwood bar surround for a 16′ long bar directly across from the band stage. In between the bar and the stage was a beautiful white vinyl dance floor with a sleek gray border. The stage was surrounded by boxwood hedge and custom designed “trees” on each end. A step in the middle of the stage allowed for a more interactive band experience. Above the dance floor hung 9 crystal chandeliers which fully illuminated the ballroom at the Peninsula.

Lastly, we finished off the room by lining each window bay with nearly a dozen candles each. As guests first entered the room on this cool fall night the warm glow was mesmerizing. Congratulations to Katie & Charlie! We are so happy to have played a small part of your big (beautiful) day!
