I always look forward to writing this blog at the end of each year. It forces me to step back for a minute and take in all that we accomplished in the past 365 days and it puts into perspective why there were days that felt… well, pretty busy! When you look at the pure volume of beautiful work that our team produced this year, it’s pretty remarkable. And boy did we had some fun along the way!! Enjoy a quick glance into this past year in our boutique floral and event design company.
By The Numbers:
72 events – 8 of which were out of state, 38 hand-constructed trees, 47 team-members (including 3 new full-time employees), 1 new design studio. We worked at 53 different wedding and event venues.
Spring
Our spring got off to a much slower start than normal. But that wasn’t all bad because we were still adjusting to our new studio at 1850 W Grand Ave. in Chicago, IL. While we moved over at the end of 2022, we spent the first few months of 2023 organizing inventory and working out the kinks in our building. And we also had the amazing opportunity to team up with the team at Variant Co. to plant and ship nearly a thousand plants & trees to brand new luxury student housing developments in both Gainesville, FL and Atlanta, GA. It was a great way to keep our production team busy in the off-season. Check out what our studio looked like when it was full of plants ready to ship.
Once April hit, in addition to a busy sample season, we finally started gearing up for our wedding season with our first few weddings of the year offering a much needed pop of color!
Summer
Our busy event season really took off in that last week of May, with 5 weddings over the three-day holiday weekend, it was go-go-go for the rest of the summer! One of the words that I would use to describe this wedding season at Life In Bloom was “customized.” Our team really pushed the boundaries this season by creating some really fun custom pieces that I believe truly elevated our events from “oh, that’s really pretty” to “WOW!” Below are just a handful of photos that exemplify that point.
Fall
Highlights to our fall included multiple trips up to Kohler, WI. The first, for an epic wedding at Riverbend. The second for the Kohler Food & Wine Festival which included getting to design a private dinner tablescape for THE Martha Stewart herself.
Winter
While we don’t have many professional photos back from our winter weddings yet, I’ve included MANY of my best i-phone photos below of what was an abnormally busy November/December. Usually December is a slower month for us, but this year, we ended the season with our busiest weekend of the year on December 8th/9th.
We spent the final weeks of the season getting our studio back in order, organizing tools and materials, and concluded the year with a fun team holiday dinner at Steak48 where we all ate (and perhaps drank) to our hearts content. We look forward to seeing you all in 2024. If history tells us anything, next year is going to be even bigger and better than the last!!
