What sets Rockwell apart is the quality of its architectural details. High lofted double bow truss ceilings soar overhead. Six skylights flood the space with natural light during the day and create dramatic contrast under event lighting at night. Exposed brick and timber, black locust end-grain hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the river create a warm, textured environment that feels both refined and alive. The venue is also home to an on-site craft distillery, brewery, and coffee roastery, and a European-style cobblestone courtyard that extends the event footprint outdoors beautifully.

The Skylight Room is the crown jewel: 10,000 square feet bathed in natural light through six pitched skylights, anchored by a 23-foot built-in bar and finished with soaring ceilings and concrete floors that feel simultaneously raw and refined. The Concrete Room offers 4,000 square feet with a 30-foot built-in bar, customizable LED ambient lighting, and a nightclub-quality sound system — perfect for a cocktail hour or after-dinner celebration. And the Mezzanine brings 3,200 square feet of elevated space with a 40-foot bar, a state-of-the-art DJ booth, and sweeping views of the floor below.

The pitched skylights create shifting light throughout the evening that makes floral installations feel almost cinematic. We approach this space with bold, sculptural centerpieces — tall architectural arrangements that command the room without blocking sightlines. The concrete and steel aesthetic here invites a design that’s equally deliberate: curated, asymmetric, editorial. For the Mezzanine, we love the opportunity to design from a bird’s-eye perspective — suspended florals, overhanging greenery, and arrangements that guests encounter from above before they ever reach the floor.
4. Shedd Aquarium

Born from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, the Museum of Science & Industry is one of Chicago’s most historically significant buildings — and one of its most extraordinary private event spaces. With access to over 400,000 square feet of exhibits, a full museum buyout accommodates up to 12,000 guests, making it one of the largest gala environments in the city.
For more focused events, the Rotunda is the defining space: a 120-foot copper-domed ceiling that is nothing short of architectural poetry, capable of hosting 1,000 guests for a seated dinner or an astonishing 5,500 for a reception. The Entry Hall accommodates up to 500 reception-style. The Giant Dome Theater, with its five-story wraparound screen, seats 249 and creates an unmatchable environment for presentations or award ceremonies. The Museum Garden, lined with great bur oak trees, offers a serene outdoor option for cocktail receptions of up to 300 guests.

As a private event space, it is genuinely, magnificently out of this world.
The Adler features 60,000 square feet of exhibition space available for private events, with capacity for seated events of 50 guests up to receptions of 1,200. Its Grainger Sky Theater and Space Theater — two stunning domed theaters — can be activated for private dome shows during your event. The Doane Observatory’s research-quality telescope is available as an add-on experience. Events begin at 6:00 pm or later, meaning guests always arrive with the magic of the Chicago skyline lit up in full.

The Great Hall is the signature space, accommodating up to 750 guests for a seated dinner or 1,300 for a reception, with venue rental starting at $9,800. For smaller events, the Burlington Room (200 seated / 350 reception), the Founders Room (150 seated / 300 reception), and the Adams Street Balcony (100 reception-style) offer beautiful supporting options.
