Summer Wedding at The Ivy Room

It is always a breath of fresh air when our clients come to us wanting a truly unique floral palette.  Meredith and Casey used their floral palette to determine the color palette for the rest of their Summer wedding at The Ivy Room in July.  Their linens, their stationary, even their napkins were all influenced by the floral palette that we carefully designed in the early stages of their wedding planning.  We may or may not have done FOUR revisions to get it just right.

When Meredith hired us as her wedding decorator, she had a pretty clear vision of her style but was unsure of how to achieve it.  She wanted her wedding to feel like summer, but also wanted it to be tasteful. She wanted to have that feeling of bringing the outdoors in but also wanted it to feel sophisticated and elegant. Suffice it to say, I think we managed to do that!

Here are some of the highlights from their Summer Wedding at The Ivy Room

THAT BOUQUET THO

Can we all just take a minute to stop and drool over Meredith’s bouquet?!?  That Pink Protea obviously steals the show but it has quite the supporting cast consisting of White Anemone, White Dahlias, Hot Pink and Cappuccino Roses, White Ranunculus, Mauve Scabiosa, Bay Leaf, Italian Ruscus, and Gunny Eucalyptus.

THE CUTEST CEREMONY IN THE PRETTIEST COURTYARD IN CHICAGO

It was one of those days where it might rain, but it also might hold off.  So Meredith and Casey opted to have their ceremony outside in the beautiful courtyard of The Ivy Room.  We draped a beautiful garland along the Juliet balcony that framed their ceremony.  When it started to drizzle, the officiant held a clear toped umbrella to keep the bride and groom dry.  While the couple remained dry, we think it’s safe to say there wasn’t a dry set of eyes in the courtyard by the time they said “I Do”.

BRINGING THE OUTDOORS INDOORS

We have worked at the Ivy Room probably a dozen times before.  Never before have we seen such a transformation of the space!  Meredith wanted the room at The Ivy Room to feel super lush and captivating.  To accomplish this, we softened the ceiling of the room by hanging three 12′ x 12′ trellises of smilax and hanging globes with votives inside. This ceiling treatment was captivating as guests first entered the space.  Throughout the room, we evenly spaced the tall arrangements full of that summer color and fun textures atop of clear glass pilsner style vases.   The rest of the round tables consisted of compote style arrangements with a floral palette consistent with those of the tall arrangements. The rectangle tables were adorned with lush garlands scattered with pops of colorful blooms.

Lastly, we designed a stunning band backdrop with a combination of vertically hanging lights and an abundance of smilax dipping from the light strands.  It truly felt like we had opened up the ceiling and the ivy from the courtyard had grown over the walls and into the space.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

The finishing touches are what made this wedding really stand out.  The couple opted for the Silver Birch Table Linen from BBJ. Guests ate off of the most stunning Gold-Beaded Glass Chargers from Tablescapes. And with a Sprig of Rosemary at each place setting Meredith and Casey’s Summer Wedding at The Ivy Room was complete!
