At Life In Bloom, we pride ourselves on our organic and elegant design style. Renown for our artistic floral installations, it is our horticultural background that equips us with a unique understanding of how to design and work with fresh materials to create something truly beautiful. We don’t let the latest trends in Bridal Magazines or Pinterest dictate what we believe to be beautiful. To us, beauty is a carefully selected color palette, a loose and organic form, and an abundance of textures. Working together, we will explore the vision for your wedding and suggest unique ways to enhance the ambience of your venue with an understanding of how you want your wedding to look and feel on your big day.
As a Husband & Wife owned organization, working in the wedding industry together truly is a dream come true. Throughout our extensive design process, we develop relationships with our couples that last long after their wedding date. For Tim and I, the entire wedding-planning process was one of our favorite times together as a couple and we feel so blessed to have the opportunity to share those similar experiences with so many remarkable couples on a weekly basis!
Rachel & Tim
Tim graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Landscape Architecture (where he and Rachel began their courtship). Since then, Tim has had a diverse range of professional experiences. From working as a designer at a Roof Deck construction company, to his role as the Art Director at a large Event Décor Company, Tim’s experiences along with his artistic eye and ability to problem solve enable him to work through the logistics of creating truly breathtaking environments. When Tim isn’t in the design studio, you can likely find him running out on the lake front path training for his next Marathon.
Rachel received her degree in Horticulture at the University of Illinois with a concentration in Floriculture and Landscape Design. The building blocks of her career were established shortly after graduating when she joined HMR Designs as a floral designer where she gained experience producing unparalleled weddings and events. Rachel's passion for floral and event design combined with her desire to work closely with clients to bring their dreams to fruition led Rachel to start Life In Bloom in 2012. Rachel's favorite flower is Ranunculus because of their seemingly infinite number of petals on each and every bloom.
Erin graduated from the University of Illinois and was immediately immersed into the Chicago wedding industry as a wedding planner and as a bridal consultant at a boutique dress shop. While working freelance for life in bloom, she fell in love with floral and event design and is now a full-time designer. Clients love Erin for her calm demeanor and positive attitude! Erin has a gift for creating breathtaking suspended floral installations and always designs with an artful balance of greenery and fresh blooms. Erin loves beach days, Chicago sports, and enjoying margs with her team!
Abby got her start with Life In Bloom as our Summer Intern in 2019 where she blew us away with how quickly she picked up floral design. That coupled with her positive attitude and impressive work-ethic made us quickly realize we had to have Abby on our team (despite being an ISU Redbird). Abby's favorite flower is a Clooney Ranunculus because she loves how delicate each bloom is.
Ella is responsible for keeping our design studio fully organized and operational. Despite being one of the youngest members on our team, Ella has an old soul. Punctuality is her middle name. She LOVES superhero movies and she has zero Social Media accounts. Linkedin? Nope. Facebook? Zip. Instagram? Nada. Twitter? None. If she DID have an Instagram account, she would have plenty of fabulous content to share with all of her beautiful design work. And I'm sure you would see a lot of her favorite flower, Hanging Amaranthus.
Clark is a 1-year-old Golden Retriever born and raised in Chicago, IL. He has a taste for the finer things (furniture) in life. But like any other Golden, he loves sticks, leaves, and pretty much anything else he can snag off the ground. Clark provides much needed emotional support during the busy wedding season and always enjoys a good belly rub after a long day of hard work. Other favorite activities of his include making snow angels in the Winter and catching some cosmic rays at Montrose Dog Beach during the hot Summer months!
