One of the most elite and historic country clubs played host to one of the most stunning weddings we’ve ever had the pleasure of producing. This Onwentsia Club Wedding took place in September of 2018 on the most perfect late summer day in Lake Forest, IL. It was the type of wedding you dream about as a child. It had all the details of a celebrity wedding that graces the front pages of the magazines. From an outdoor ceremony on the back terrace to a lush and beautiful tented reception bursting with flowers, an A-list band, and all of the intricate details, this wedding was one that we’ll remember for years to come.

Beauty is in the Details

One of the first parts of a wedding that a guest experiences is actually the invitations. This stately invitation suite captured the couple’s vibe perfectly. And as guests walked into this Onwentsia Club Wedding, they were greeted with equally stunning escort cards with elegant calligraphy hand scripted onto thick luxurious navy cards. All of this was laid out onto a beautiful blue and white patterned linen. This pattern made its way throughout many other parts of the couples’ big day including the seat cushions and the highboy tables.

The couple tied the knot overlooking the golf course at Onwentsia Club, framed by an old Oak tree. Flanking them, we created two identical floral collections. Each collection consisted of 3 large floral arrangements in white elegant urns atop molded pedestals. The arrangements consisted of hydrangea, roses, and english ivy. Both collections also included a 7′ tall boxwood topiary as well as a spherical boxwood arrangement in a smaller white urn.

After cocktail hour, guests made their way from the inside of The Onwentsia Club to the clear-span tent. A pathway lined with lanterns led the way. Upon entering the tent, guests were greeted with lush centerpieces overflowing with hydrangea, roses, and the longest orchid sprays we’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. Less noticeable but equally beautiful was the ivory carpeted floor and oval back chairs by Nuage Designs. Together, the tent felt more residential and inviting.

Speaking of inviting, the lounge groups by Bowery & Bash with custom pillows by Tailored Elements had us seriously wanting to hang around for a while. Next to the soft seating were two custom boxwood bars with a beautiful backbar by Frost. We filled the inner portion of the backbars with more fresh boxwood and the cutest foamcore crests.

The centerpieces for this Onwetnsia Club Wedding were some of the must lush arrangements we’ve had the pleasure of designing to date. Long rectangular tables hosted lush elevated floral hedges with collections of blue and white chinoiserie vases and small boxwood topiaries below. The chinoiserie vases were filled with Tibet Roses, White Hydrangea, and Siberian Lillies. On the wooden round tables, we designed stunning oversized arrangements in glass garnier vases overflowing with Hydrangea and Phaelonopsis Orchids!

Lastly, it’s no celebration without some dancing. And boy did we enhance that dance floor. We surrounded the stage with our custom planter boxes filled with a tailored hedge of boxwood. We built a custom band backdrop filled with more boxwood and a large foamcore crest. Above the dance floor hung 3 massive crystal chandeliers by Frost. We completely covered the arms of the chandeliers with Hydrangea, Roses, and Orchids which made such a statement as guests first entered the tent and really came to life at night as they danced the night away!
